MoJo Tools - Automated Excel Pivot Table Charts and Reports

With the Launch of Catapult in December 2008, the .dbf based MoJo tools were replaced with the .xls based Catapult Analytics Tools. If you have not already done so, please upgrade to Catapult Analytics (it only takes a couple seconds to download).

How does MoJo work? These automated Excel workbooks are designed to work in conjunction with exported .dbf files from Catapult. Just choose the data you would like to view in MoJo by exporting Query or Watch results from Catapult. Then simply place the exported results on your C: drive in a folder named "Rainmaker" and name the file "RAIN.dbf". The MoJo Tools automatically grab the data in the "RAIN.dbf" file and quickly creates the charts and reports. System requirements and troubleshooting.

Who should use MoJo? Because Catapult Analytics is packed with additional features not available in MoJo and because it reads .xls files rather than .dbf files, all Catapult user's should use the Catapult Analytics Tools. However, because Microsoft Excel has the 65,535 row limitation, those of you that want to analyze more than 65,535 units may want to continue using the legacy .dbf based MoJo Tools. The .dbf based MoJo allows you to analyze up to 200,000 units.

Step 1
Download the MoJo Tools to Your C: Drive
Since MoJo is built on the Microsoft Excel framework, you don't need to install any programs on your computer. All you need to do is get a copy of the MoJo tools downloaded to your computer's root C:drive. To begin, click the Download button and Open the “MoJo_Setup.zip” file.  Depending on the zip utility installed on your computer, you can either:

  Bullet
  • Option 1: Drag the "Rainmaker" folder to your C:drive (see screen shot below)
Bullet Option 2: Copy and Paste the "Rainmaker" folder to your C:drive
Bullet Option 3: Or, if you use the WinZip utility, extract all the individual files to your C: drive

Step 2
Export your data from Catapult as RAIN.dbf
The power of MoJo lies in its ability to take large amounts of data and quickly format the data into easy to interpret reports and charts. Thus, you must give MoJo™ some data to analyze by exporting the desired data from Catapult.

  Bullet
  • Run your desired Query or Watch in Catapult
Bullet Choose report type of "Query Results" and export type "DBF"
Bullet Save the query results in the folder named "Rainmaker" on your C: drive and name the file exactly RAIN.dbf. Click Yes to overwrite the existing Rain.dbf. Important: The file must be named exactly RAIN.dbf or the MoJo™ will not operate. You may wish to rename the existing Rain.dbf to avoid deleteing the current data.

Step 3
Refresh the MoJo Automated Tools
Begin utilizing the power of MoJo by simply opening a MoJo tool from the Rainmaker folder on your C: drive. To get the latest data into MoJo™ you will need to refresh your MoJo™
. By refreshing MoJo™, you are telling it to pull the latest data found in your C:\Rainmaker folder into the reports.

If you are an Excel 2003 (or 2000) user.....When you open your MoJo™ tool, Excel will give you the option to Enable or Disable Automatic Refresh. Choose Enable Automatic Refresh to update the file with the latest data you downloaded from Rainmaker™. Conversely, you can choose Disable Automatic Refresh to open MoJo™ without refreshing it with the latest data.

If you are an Excel 2007 user.....When you open your MoJo™ tool, Excel will not prompt you to refresh the data. To refresh the data, you have two options:

  • Option 1: On your Excel toolbar, click Data then click Refresh All. This will update all the reports with the latest data you downloaded from Rainmaker.

  • Option 2: Depending on your computer's security settings, you may see a Security Warning letting you know that data connections have been disabled. Click on Options to the right of this message and choose Enable this content. This will update all the reports with the latest data you downloaded from Rainmaker™.
