April 13, 2011
As part of our ongoing effort to provide the most accurate data to our customers, EDA will be making a regularly scheduled system update on April 15, 2011. The update will consist of two enhancements detailed below.
1. Increasing the field length for the UCC equipment unit field
Due to prior production limitations in the equipment unit field (EQTUNIT), EDA’s UCC ID field was limited to only four line items. Our enhanced production system will allow up to 9,999 line items in the EQTUNIT field, eliminating the complexity of multiple UCC ID’s per UCC filing. This update will have no impact on most of you. However, if your company downloads and imports Catapult generated data to your internal systems, you may need to modify your integration process to avoid data truncation or import errors. The potential impact is dependent on your internal integration setup. If you or your technical team has any concerns or questions, please feel free to contact us directly at 800-495-5750.
2. Consistently defining dealers financing statements as "wholesale" transactions
Following two years of analysis and diligence by EDA’s site department to define entities in our system that are dealers, we implemented logic into our production system to code equipment financed by dealers as “wholesale” transactions. The result is that we will be updating 13,000 historical EDA records from 2006 and 2009 (covering all industries: Agriculture, Construction, Copiers, Lift Trucks, Logging, Machine Tools, Printing, Trucking and Woodworking). A vast majority of these historical records will be updated to a UCC status (UCCSTATUS) of “wholesale” from either “sale,” “lease,” “rental,” or “refinance.” Therefore, you may experience minor count variances when analyzing market share data from previous reports.
Sincerely,
EDA's Customer Experience Team
